~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
America grew silent as winter’s breath
Weary with the fears that softly depress
Riding the winds as tears fall to their death
Colors of red, white and blue, God did bless
Amid the struggles that reach our prayers
Distant stories remind hearts of the why
Overflowing verdicts of dreaded shares
Destroy the meaning of each goodbye
America knew that her time was so short
It wouldn’t be long before change was heard
All of our memoirs would come by import
Reflections of freedom, the eagle stirred
Deaf to the music of life’s changing times
Never to pay for her cruel, dark crimes
