American Future

We won’t remember 9/11 election fraud will be forgotten school shootings will belong in the past no one will talk about gun control black, white, woman, man, illegal, homeless, rich or poor old, young, gay, straight, native or cowboy we will finally know equality climate change will not be debated Social Security and Medicare won’t be needed all religions will bond together the words Republican and Democrat will have no meaning there will be no need for lies, no hate, no greed no one will cry, fake news, fake hair, fake smile the almighty dollar will lose its luster no one will feel envy or jealousy we will remember the value of prayer no one will care about this poem after they launch the thermonuclear warheads

People always forget until they get a yearly reminder like all atrocities in life, including Hiroshima, slavery, trail of tears... the list can go on, but I see you point and you write so many poems, so maybe this one will be forgotten... just like you, just like me... nicely done..

your poem was captivating and resonated with me on many levels. A sad comment on forgetting the lessons learned from significant historical events. I appreciate the line 'we will remember the value of prayer' After the world's annihilated that essence will be the strength to carry on. Masterpiece, Jerry. Faving this one, Sara
