America the Blue

America, the Blue

America, You're Still Beautiful
But the Beauty Is Fading Fast
With Toxic Waste and Pollution
There's No Way Your Beauty Will Last

The Signs of Aging Are Subtle
But Nonetheless Still There
It's Easier Now to Notice
Across the Land Once So Fair

The Lakes and Streams Are Poison
And the Wild Life Is Fading out
They Have No Place in Society
Of That There Is Little Doubt

Everyone Has Ideas and Plans
But the Government Is Very Slow
Talk about it Is Very Cheap
All We Get Is "I Don't Know."

We Could Stand Together
But No One Wants to Do That
Money Is More Important
And That Is the Saddest Fact

What Will Happen Tomorrow?
Where Will Our Children Live?
When You, America, Get All Used up
And Have Nothing Left to Give?

This speaks so much truth. All anyone cares about is money and how they can get it no matter what the cost. Great write!
