America Is Home

Mother is a child of the greatest generation
from an immigrant family that found a haven
and learned to survive the hard times that came to an entire nation~
the Great Depression left no one unscathed,
World War Two took their sons and daughters brave
so the promise of freedom could continue to blaze.

your poem made me appreciate those who endured the depression and those who lost children. My parents were children of the depression; like the poem said, they weren't left unscathed. Nicely done.
