America
AMERICA
A -- The anthem that’s sung as the flag is raised high,
To catch the soft breeze as it waves in the sky.
M -- The men who have given their lives in the war
So we could enjoy a peace on our shore.
E -- The eagle that stands for our strength and our might,
Our quest for the freedom to do what is right.
R -- The rights that are written in the laws of the land
That guarantee justice to each woman and man.
I -- The independence from other countries and reign,
Our sovereign right to in freedom remain.
C -- The church that those founders desired to stay
Held high with respect for the Lord on His day.
A --The answer for man who desires to be free,
Respecting each other and his liberty.
America is these, yes, and yet many more
Within fifty states on two ocean shores.
A land vast and wide, spread with mountains and plains,
With rivers and valleys and forest domain,
With lakes full of fishes, with meadows so green,
With plains full and fruitful, so much to be seen.
As God’s looking down on this land we call home
And sees how we’ve treated this land of our own,
I wonder if teardrops well up in His eyes
And come through the floodgates of heaven’s dark skies.
I wonder if anger in His powerful breath
Is shown through tornadoes or a hurricane’s death.
I wonder if fire from His sword of great power
Devours this land with the droughts of the hour.
I’m sure God is patient and loving and kind,
Yet when He looks at us and evil He finds
He must wield His judgment, His justice must reign,
For He wants each person to call on His name.
As lands and their people in times of the past
Met His mighty hand in their judgment at last,
So too this great land will face judgment as well,
The wickedness cast into darkness and hell.
If God just ignores it or closes His eyes,
Then to all of these others He must apologize.
I hope and I pray, though, our people will see
The damage they’re causing in this land so free
And that they’ll repent before it’s too late
And they have to meet with eternity’s fate.
