Amercan Racism
American racism
I don’t understand it
Well, so they are former slaves
But that was long ago why are they
And the whites harbouring
Resentment about it.
Can’t the let it go!
I’m married to a mixed-race woman
From Kinshasa
It is part of her being and never has
I heard a word about it.
Nevertheless, American racism
Is alive and well and resides in the heart
Of every American.
We had an American visitor he was
Exceedingly polite to my wife, which
Annoyed her because it was a form of racism
She had never encountered before.
Well, he has gone back to Florida and lives
In a white enclave.
It is a mystery to me why white Americans
Are unable to see a black person
And behave normally, blacks
are not made of glass.
