Amber Caress
For I am trapped in amber,
can amber trap a soul?
It was a primitive sun
in a primordial world.
The greens and yellows
of the jungle deep can
blind you.
The dark shadows imply
a chilling depth, yet
the lush atmosphere draws
me to a scent so sweet
that I must taste the nectar
no matter what the danger.
In the floral depths
I drew in the nectar
that floods my being
with the warmth
of the sun.
I can not be sated!
For I am trapped in amber,
can amber trap a soul?
With the heat of the day
the sap must flow and I feel
the first subtle touch
on my feet.
More than enough
time to move.
But one more taste
again and again, as
the yellow caress passes back,
and makes wings useless.
Eyes become uncaring
on an ancient Summer's day.
For I am trapped in amber,
can amber trap a soul?
