My youngest son leaves for Israel, for good, on Monday (Dec. 23)

My world's gone wobbly Hands clammy, knees weak Stomach churning, eyes watery Thoughts swirling, face tear-streaked Is he really leaving ? Am I losing a son? I know where he's going -- to Israel He'll be in good hands; I agreed to the deal Yet the whole thing just seems so unreal He's happy, excited, living his dream I'm afraid to cry; a killjoy I'll seem I'm scared I'll never see him again Though I did the same thing way back when ~ Now I know what my parents went through back then

I wish your son safe travels, Gershon. No..you are not losing a son, nor have your parents lost theirs in you. Always be in our hearts my friend. Happy Holidays.. Charlie

Gershon, This touching poem on Monday's lament. The day a son walks and travels far as a man can go. -Richard

So wise. Let go... he is HIS... He will watch over him... for you... Now also in my prayer box as well. God give you exactly what you need when you need it, especially when you do not know that you do. Merry Christmas my friend. God Bless. Ann

There is no empathy like the empathy we derive from our imagination after what we did to our parents is being done to us. Surely you can visit each other occasionally. I was almost comotose when my middle daughter left for Portland, thinking she would never be back. It only lasted a year.

thanks for the support, Caren... Amazingly enough, all I felt was immense pride watching my son walk through security and on his way home...For Israel truly is the home of every Jew. No regrets. Very, very proud of my youngest son! Thanks, Gershon
