Always The Good Days

People mostly say Those were good old days When they are thinking of the past So what will be today In the future, looking back Since they’ve declared the ‘good olds’ have passed But let’s look back farther At your great grandfather Who also said his were ‘The good old days’ That were there way before You crawled on the floor But ‘now’ you say ‘yours’ were ‘The good old days’ So who gets ‘good old days’ That came so many ways Is it me, you, them, they, or another Or are the best good olds After the touting’s told Just one more way to out-do another I think each day is best Deserving of our zest In fact it’s even better than the last And when we lift our head To help make good cheer spread We won’t need to brag ‘bout the past, that’s passed

David, I think you've created a gem. We just need to learn from the past while we live in the present and prepare for the future. I suppose some have longing for what was, but life right now seems awfully exciting!! Smiles! (Of course, if we lose what the founding fathers created and end up with a king, I would be talking about the good old days!)

Dearest David, an awesome write. History paints portrais, but we need not be run by them at allIt is our choice to live fully for this day.anyway, have you ever noticed d nioticed how poets reply in old sayings that are not true at all? Bets are that not one of us did not have a bad day. Ever? I think there is some truis in the good old days…I also agree with you that happiness is up to us. Reality is how you see it, we need need not all be jolly each day, Love…Pangi who loves your writing!

Yes, like you say below, those sayings are boring! Saltines at best. That's also why I read what you guys have to say; it's often like well cooked food for the mind.

Those sayings..have a name, I called them boring,, Dead lies. Like venom answering a phone the poet what they do is use these old same that are meaningless.. what I say is make up your own. And half of them are untrue… writing poetry that is all about smiles, and life is butterflies is a crock.. I know thousands of people and they all have our time sometimes . Just do your best and have a great day.. Pangie xo

Hi Pangie and thanks for the 'awesome write'. It's funny hearing people loving 'those days' better than 'these days' lol. It's so true about the bad days, but I try to think was it a full bad day, or just some moments; maybe and hour and a half!

I find this gently powerful in that wisdom unfolds with each stanza more and more poignant! Well done!

Thanks, sometimes these type of writes get bogged down and I feel the words lack what I'm trying to convey.
