Always Searching

I am sometimes a weary traveller
always searching
for that scrap of love and approval
I think that I desperately need
a person to tell me it's ok and that I have a place in the world
looking outside myself
  scanning the horizon
On a tireless search for myself-

then a small voice came to be telling me just to look within
take the time each day to recollect the important attributes I have
don't be concerned about what I think I don't have
Because inside I know I have it all

very much like you do
and as I learn to love myself
I can love you too.
