Always On My Mind

From the first time that we met,
and you smiled at my attempt
to ask you for a slow dance;
you were always on my mind.

When I saw you with your friends
or in the hallways at school
I could think of nothing else;
you were always on my mind.

Somehow, you affected me,
I couldn't eat or even sleep;
all I did was think of you,
you were always on my mind.

You were perfect in all ways
and I fell in love with you;
there was nothing I could do
you were always on my mind.

As we grew old together
we shared many happy years;
not a moment was wasted,
you were always on my mind.

Death will come to claim you now;
my tears can't keep Him at bay.
But I wanted you to know
you were always on my mind.

Lovely and heartfelt. At first, she caught your eye and affected you deeply, then your love grew past the infatuation into a shared lifetime, then it all comes rushing back when death claims her, but it cannot take back what you have…all those lovely years. Blessings, my friend!
