Altiplano

Hoch am eisigen Himmel
Über dem schroffen Gestein
Gleitet der Kondor

Dort wo die Vicuñas grasen
Treffen sich Feuer und Eis

--------------------------------

High in the frigid sky
Above the craggy rocks
Glides the condor

There where Vicuñas graze
Impinges fire on icy ground

---------------------------------

Alto en el cielo helado
Sobre las rocas escarpadas
Planea el condor

Dónde pastan las vicuñas
Se unen fuego y hielo

"El Condor Pasa "....Enjoyed this one...Brought visiual imaginery that was of that bird in flight...Keep the creative pen flowing...Thanks for stopping by and reading my bio...I was doing it for a contest but when I looked back she asked for at least fourteen lines...I only did nine that is required of the bio form...Thanks for your faithfulness in reading my work.I had to go to YouTube and hear once again the song.."El Condor Pasa".Sara

Great imagery with this one, Gert! I'm off for a few days to the Oregon coast so I'll be seeing lots of gulls but no condors ... smile ...

well done, a brilliant picture and image. Deep one Gert, hope you are enjoying your Memorial day. I wonder if Memorial day is all over the world or just the USA, just curious,..p.d.

Incredible image of the bird above the icy ground, Gert. The California Condor is an endangered species. If the one you are describing is also endangered, this would make an excellent entry for the "Endangered" contest that's going on now. Both translations seemed to work well for this tanka. Thank you! Love, Carolyn
