Altered Memories

No problem, I'll let it go
All the sorrow and pain of the past
But they won't leave me
They've come again, at last

I have nothing left, I say
But they grab and quickly gain
My story, my life, my memories
They are altered, and I am vain

Apparently I puff my story
I slant my words, here and there
What happened to me, isn't mine
Because my "mental health" has lucrative shares

Everyone gather round, and grab
Leave nothing for her to claim
Hell, take her thoughts and stories
Assault her name

I'm tired, I have fought too long
Won battle after battle, only to lose
I should have known, I have nothing
But everything they choose

Divided to unite
United for them to steal
Altered memories
Only "they" can say what's real
