Alouette, Skylark
Alouette, skylark
Get home; it's past dark
Nighttime has fallen too soon!
Alouette, so late
Fly away home, straight!
Fly by the light of the moon.
Dinnertime, skylark
Past time to embark,
Fly away, fly straight ahead!
Little ones pleading,
In need of feeding,
Tuck all the children in bed!
----------
Wow, this is an Alouette, a form I ran across elsewhere:
Meter: 5, 5, 7, 5, 5, 7
Rhyme Scheme: a, a, b, c, c, b
Alouette is French for 'lark'; I think this one sings!
Note: I used HowManySyllables.com, pronouncing a-lou-ette,
rhyming with silhouette.
Obviously, this doesn't work with a-lou-et-te like the children's song, sung in French.
