Alone This Christmas

Silent like the night all Christmas day, Normal adornments simply scarce, No Natal dinner this year, Just a sandwich and wine, Can't revel to feast. I'll shed a tear In recall, Years now Gone. Rest My love. Always in My heart never Forgotten, I'll heed Your advice, be merry. Invited to my daughter Deck the house with boughs of holly, For Christ is born in my heart again.

Loneliness around the holidays, I do join you. I live on sandwiches the majority of the time, what to cook for only 1 person? Your wife always by your side my friend looking over you as God does. Hugs Eve

A lovely and touching nonet, Victor. Love never dies. When loved ones are not in our sight, they reside in our hearts. I love the last two lines of your poem. :) Evelyn

Beautiful and sad Victor. I don't think we ever really get used to being without someone who was for most of our life a prominent figure in our life. But she wouldn't want you to be lonely or forlorn. She would want you to celebrate the Birth of The Savior with your daughter and her family. God Bless my friend and Merry Christmas to you and yours. “Gone”-a powerful choice… The way you turned the sadness around towards hope such a delicate turn—gracefully done! :) -ps

I know how you feel about solitude. However, your beloved one stays in your heart, urging you to celebrate. Even though many individuals are still left in this world, we must keep ourselves alive and vibrant. You'll always have your memories to look back on.

Ahh!! I am sure that our loved ones that have passed would want us to continue to live a normal happy life after a period of grief. I think about my parents everyday but with mostly happy thoughts. I don't know about losing a child or a spouse because I have not been through that. Thanks for dropping by my page. Sara

Although a joyful time it's also a very emotional one as we look back and think of loved ones no longer with us. Tom

He was only born once and I hope He never left your heart. You opted for a shorter form. Let’s see if you get more views but that shouldn’t be a problem since you get more views than most. No grumbling.

I can feel your sense of loneliness. When the neighbors enjoy with family, you are left to yourself. It is on festive occasions that we miss our close family more. However your dear one stays in your heart asking you to rejoice.... So let it be...so ! Rejoice and be merry ! Sweet write, Victor!
