Alone Poem
alone
your alone
alone isn't a crime
the problem is
nobody wants to be around alone
alone echoes
nobody cares to hear it
they'd rather listen to birds, a water fall, a 747 taking off
a wailing baby -a beaver slapping shine into the pond
nobody wants to hear the echo of alone
alone
Alone, nobody wants to kiss the mouth of alone
they'd rather kiss a bramble, a rat trap, poison ivy
a barnacled behemoth
anything but
alone
alone
Alone, nobody wants to hold the hand of alone
they'd rather hold the muddy claw of a turtle
a rake handle, their little bits or a big fat check
but nobody wants to hold the hand of alone
alone
alone
Alone is contagious
you might become part of the equation
expansion+ contraction = nothingness
A million friends attended your 29th birthday party
life contracts to a 79th birthday party
sitting with 60 flickering watts and a dying cat
alone
alone
your home has become a beast called
alone-swallows you whole
doesn't leave a single bone
alone
alone
you're slapped into an old folks home
a machine takes your blood pressure ..
it reads 180 over alone
without making eye contact
the machine slowly shakes its youthful head
leaving you alone with the echo from 29 footsteps
an alone echo
alone
nobody wants to be around alone
alone is far beyond the abyss
or a bird less sky
alone is a contagion of creeping isolation
alone is alive!
