Alone

Haunted by the mystery
Hiding from the misery
Captured by this paradox
That awaits me in my dreams
I shelter here from pending storm
Burning dreams to keep me warm
I close my eyes so I won't see
But still I hear the screams
I, the withered pariah
a disciple of my own desire
I scourge my flesh in agony
though the pleasure is beyond
I want for peace and order
but seek no quell or quarter
For chaos is my dearest friend
in this wasteland I call home
Offer me no eulogy
for mine is of insanity
And I left as I have come...

Once in a while, I wake from strange dreams and write in a frenzy, not really paying attention to what I am writing. This was one of those nocturnal moments. The raw, fertile subconscious mind can produce some pretty cool pieces. James
