Alone

Past, present, future.
Meaningless,
vicious cycles.

Rigid chalk on dark pavement.
Red and white, an ugly pink.
Confused, thoughts in hibernation.

Sitting beside the campfire on its last breath.
Dimming in the soft breeze, feed it to the fire.
Legs crossed, eyes fixated on the soft orange flames.

Cracked sidewalks, bruised and beaten.
Worn down by the harsh rain and wind.
Burn everything away.

It hurts, breathless, I don’t want it to hurt.
Friends turned into tombstones of memories.

The way is shut, our paths have diverged.
The way is shut, lobotomized and numb.
You closed the gate. Now, I intend to keep it shut.

I really like the image of the "last breath" of the campfire combined with going into hibernation.
