Almost 13

At this point the word
has no meaning, no background
still it sounds adventurous
as climbing a deadly rock

and the child, yes, still beardless
acts grown up, no cigarette tho,
more a marshmallow type,
nods as if the word means fun

exitement for the unknown
attraction, ultimate merry-go-round
experience, worth a gamble,
and then the bungee, yeehaw

the old swimming pool:
decayed cubicles with fungus
fitting two or more if you need,
it’s a short story of an hour

we swim 15 minutes
change again
and again: again
‘You come next week?’
