Almost

I WATCH THE WORLD GO BY
BEHIND DIRTY GLASS
OH, THERE'S SO MUCH
THAT I WANNA DO
BUT THESE CHAINS HOLD ME DOWN
I SIT AND WAIT
FOR OPPURTUNITY
BUT IT KNOCKS ME DOWN
AND PASSES ME BY
I SEE YOU IN ULTRAVIOLET
BUT IT HURTS MY EYES
I TRY TO REACH OUT
AND TOUCH YOU
AND I BURN MY HANDS
ALWAYS SOMETHING
JUST BEYOND MY GRASP
AND THE LEASH WON'T GO THAT FAR.

A poem that conveys the reality of what we can do to ourselves when we put our mind to it.
