Allowed

He didn't like it when I wrote
Guess my words were hard to swallow
Difficult to handle
the truth hurts sometimes
especially to a coward

but now I'm allowed

To feel my own feelings and think my own thoughts
I took them back, they are now all mine again
I fought against it

And now I'm allowed

And if I choose to talk about him
Or about whatever I want

I'm allowed

My reality is no longer in a battle against insanity
Against misery and hate
I didn't fight to win, I left to win

I made excuses for him to people close to me, couldn't tell them the truth

But now I am allowed

But best of all
I'm allowed to breathe
I'm allowed to be me
