All These Years
I can't believe it's been all these years since we last touched, it hurts so much
I see my breath in the dim light of a December sunset, lingering snowflakes dancing in the air
Down on one knee I kneel beside you, my tears freezing as they fall, it's so quiet
Clearing away the snow that rests upon your granite stone I trace your name with my finger
I can't bear to be away from you any longer, the cold wind caresses my empty soul in twilight
From lips that are turning blue, I whisper "hold me in your heart". The time has come
The barrel of the gun shined in the glinting light, my finger slowly pulls the trigger
The birds flew away in haste as the report echoes in the silence, my pain gone now
A winter night falls, let darkness consume the world as it did me, all is quiet again
Once more my love we are together, after all these years
