All There Is
Just pick a number, get yourself in line.
I, myself, jumped in some years ago.
Counting my blessings, I'm just fine,
with many more than most people, I know.
The question I find always hovering,
with the answer always just out of reach,
is just the old Peggy Lee thing
and we all lineup for the search.
There seems to be no great rewards
for a life led one way or another.
Neither immoral nor upright awards
a better place in line, or even other
ways of living. We simply trudge along,
lemming bound, singing Peggy's song.
