All that we are not
All that we are not
stares back at us,
like shadows of lost memories,
like autumn leaves falling without asking the wind
where to settle, where to find rest,
in a world of silences and misunderstood murmurs,
in a corner of the universe where time
flows as silently as sand
through an hourglass forgotten on a dusty shelf.
All the dreams we have not lived
stare back at us,
like stars burning in the night sky,
wondering why we chose
to remain captive in the light of day.
We forget to dream, we forget to hope,
in a world where smiles
get lost in the fog of daily worries,
where flowers forget to bloom
and birds can no longer find their song.
All the loves we have not had
stare back at us,
like butterflies caught in the web of time,
wondering why we hid
our hearts in dark corners of the soul.
We wander among memories, searching
for that lost light of youth,
for that warmth of first kisses,
for that magic of endless nights.
All that we are not
stares back at us,
like broken mirrors of destiny,
reflecting fragments of our unfulfilled desires,
of wasted hopes.
We search for ourselves
in every shadowed corner,
in every speck of light,
trying to decipher the mystery
of all that we have been, of all that we have not been,
of all that we could have been.
