All of Me - All of You: a Realist's View

Giving oneself over completely
to another. . . . Yes, it can be done.
Two embracing underneath the sea
is romantic, two becoming one!

But to focus everything on you,
giving myself over completely:
Is it even feasible to do?
Life requires much more of you and me.

Marriage isn’t one long fantasy.
I am glad for just half of your all.
Giving yourself over completely 
means to ME, you don’t put up a wall!

We have our own work and interests, Dear.
All things to everyone we can’t be.
Yet know when you need me, I'll be here. . . 
giving myself over completely.


(I really enjoy the John Legend song All of Me.
However, this is what I was prompted to write
after really thinking it over and looking at another
facet of what the song's lyrics could mean.)
