All My Heart

As I sit here all alone
in the silence of night,
Overwhelmed by the moments
of darkness in our life,

With all my heart,
I struggle to keep up the fight,
To keep holding on to you
until we can see the light.

I’ve heard your cries
and tasted your tears,
I’ve suffered your pain
and all of your fears.

With all my heart,
I’ve loved you through
some of the worst of our years.

Tonight my eyes are filled
with salt and water
from all our sorrow.

        but,

Even still, one day,
   with all my heart,
I hope to love and hold you
       in a better tomorrow.
