All Is Not Fair in Politics
The loudest voice is not the wisest sound,
The tallest crown may hide the weakest ground.
A smiling face may sell a poisoned kiss,
For power often profits through abyss.
The dice are loaded long before they're thrown;
The harvest claimed was seldom fully sown.
The fox wears silk, the lion bears the blame,
While truth is sacrificed to feed the game.
Yet storms don't reign forever in the sky;
The strongest towers still decay and die.
Though falsehood wears a robe of bright renown,
Time strips the robe and tears the idol down.
So seek not thrones by trading soul for gain;
No borrowed crown is worth a lasting stain.
For power fades like shadows at the fall,
But truth outlives the rise and fall of all.
