All I Intended To Be

Looking back over one's life
thinking of your thoughts far back
what intentions were in your mind?
indeed had you a sure track?

Leaving school at the ripe age of 15
any job would do, to get a wage
no real ambitions had me at that time
had no impulse but to turn to the next page

Decades have now passed on by
but amazingly feel it was all a plan
there in the divine providence so grand
each step has been taken like a span

Like a flight through the air
before landing on the flight path
you feel so high above the clouds
till your eyes see the approaching grass

Such an adventure it's all been
from birth till earth's end shall be
'all I intended to be' brought about
a little seed became one large tree

(Having listened again to Emmylou Harris 's album 'All I Intended To Be' from a few years ago inspired this piece looking back on life and all it was intended to be.)

Intruiging Gordon you & I can look back only Because we made it so far i have surveyed my Own journey and leaving a fairly affluent land To live in the U K many years (but from here I Had protection) to encourage the brave Aussies Contesting for freedom, I knew the scriptures Also I must be an exile although kin to those Around me.' But never realised the 'super reality' Of how this would play out around me.? Its like Looking at myself as someone who knows me Well from the outside.'

To have lived a life with no serious regrets is the best realization of one's life. You ended your study at the age of fifteen and started work. Couldn't go for Higher studies. But you ascended higher and higher and you feel that you have chosen the right track ! There lies real contentment ! Stay blessed dear Gordon

An interesting journey through life Gordon. I too left school at 15 and have never considered that I am all I was intended to be. Your poem has provoked questions within me, and I must now search for answers. Thank you for this inspiring rhyme that has made me look deep into myself for the very first time.

Contemplating on life, a quick run-through that introspection brings to mind when we sit in quiet surroundings. Very often we don't make plans which last forever more, but what most suits us at that particular moment. Deep down I believe that every step we take in life is part of His plan for us. ~ Regards & blessings, my friend. // paul

Then you should be a very proud man, for you are certainly a religious person, with thoughts and prayers made into poems which you post and spread around the world, for Poetry Soup is International and which everyone can read. That is a real achievement - so well done Gordon, congratulations. Have your poems gone into the book you mentioned some weeks back, that is your second triumph - God sees all this and knows. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

somehow when we look back, we realize that every journey we took was predestined according to our soul's desire, and necessity. Nicely penned dear Gordon, I can appreciate this poem immensely at the age I am now, :)
