All I Ask
All I ask, all I’ve ever asked
Is for peace, Dear God, sweet peace.
There’s so much hate and jealousy out here
I’m being swallowed up by that beast.
No matter what road we travel in life
We all end up the same.
Why can’t we make the best of it
And love in Jesus’ name?
Why can’t we be grateful for the air we breathe
And for everything we see?
Why can’t we enjoy the time we’re here?
It’s so simple – or is it just me?
I’m one of the chosen few who have
A special gift to share.
If I could just figure out the recipe…
I’m getting knocked down everywhere.
If I could just figure out the recipe
I wouldn’t fail time and again.
Please help me not to self-destruct
All I ask, in peace,
AMEN.
