All For My Baby Peasants With Pleasant Rags 2

For you I want to be strong
For you I want to be weak
For you I want to be a sinner
For you I want to be a saint
For you I want to be poor
For you I want to be rich
Just for you my baby
I want to be your strength
Standing between you and all storms of life
Letting ragging hand of poverty slap my battered back
Back that now knows the rhythm of the rain and scorching power of the sun
For you I want to be beautiful, a jewel you can be proud to call your mama
For you I want to be a hero
Oh! How much I love to see your face lite up with joy when you look at me
For you I want to be rich
Just to give you all the luxury you deserve that fate won't let me have
For you I want to be ugly, sitting under this withered tree, drawing the hem of every passerby
So I can get a few coins in this bowl of mine
For you, I want to be filthy, if that's the only option life throws at me
For you I want be all, so you can be someone noble
For you I want to save every penny thrown at this ageing 32 year old body of mine
So you can have a shoe to wear to school
For you I want to be all the bad things you could be, so you can be all the good things I couldn't be.
All these, for you, my baby.

You are a VERY good mother!! Love how you wrote this with such emotion, Abosede. I rarely look at the avatars of people and I had to take a look to see what a cute mom you are in that picture.

This is not my story, Andrea. I was travelling one day and I saw this woman with a bowl in her front, leaning on the railing of the bridge, adjusting her sons faded school uniform, and I just could read in her eyes her love for her child to be educated. I wrote this poem because of that moment. Thanks for reading, Andrea.

Your love for you baby is priceless. Just by having a loving and caring mother is richer. Great poem :)

It's really amazing when I see these people begging on the street, sending their children to School against all odds. Thanks for reading Akkina.
