All Day I Dwell In Daydreams

All day I dwell in Daydreams Where I’m free to be King, Fearing loss, fearing failure, No guts, no hope, and no means. Too afraid to strive in this foggy world, This world of uncertain forked roads, And so I slip into a coma of fantasy And retreat into the land of Make Believe. Trying to escape the daily grind, I put one foot on my ship of dreams— Setting sail for oblivion! Yet I find My other foot tethered firmly to reality. And as the two worlds separate, How could I ever avoid the abyss That lies in-between? Poem released into Public Domain
