Alkie

Hi my name is izzy, im an alcoholic

Never really had a problem
But that’s what other people call it

I guess I’ll never change

Cuz my brain is really strange

And it helps me not to care.

Yeah im pretty messed up

The fact that im here at all means i fessed up

I wasn’t in control

Of my body or my soul

And rifts it caused are voids now.

I burnt bridges way to easily

Tried to rebuild a couple recently

And really I think it would be good for me

But I need to admit I caused that.

A decade under the influence

As a kid I said I’d never do it

But then I grew up and went through it

Never put a lot of thought to it

And now the life i leads incongruous

To a peaceful existence and happy life.

Sure. I’m happy in the drunk state

Payday comes. The weekends here i can’t wait

To get dressed up and smelling good to go play

In neon streets with golden lights and and no gray

It’s fun for the night, but then I check my bank account.

Wake up from a deep not sleep

You blacked out again from a night in the streets

Try to recollect some memory you can keep

But more than money, in memory the cost Aint cheap.

Don’t ask what I said or did. I don’t remember.

The women are a great thrill

From the club to her crib to an alcohol and chill

Her lips make the room spin like a windmill

Or at least, it probably would if I remembered

Wake up in her bed with a headache

She rolls over, groans and says this was a mistake

I hold my head and say I can relate

So I get on all my clothes abd vacate.

It really isn’t as fun as it sounds.

Head is split in two and the sun burns my eyes

What was done yesterday was random and unwise

No matter if I say it’s hookup culture I despise

I actively participate and it causes cognitive dissonance
