Airborne but Earthbound
I am airborne but earthbound
Flying high, but toward the ground
What goes up must come back down
So, I’m airborne but earthbound
I see partly cloudy skies
And all the things it implies
I am soaring through the air
But not going anywhere
I’m not sure how I got here
But my destination’s clear
Kind of fun, this here descent
Don’t know where all my time went
There’s a view to make one gasp
But it’s just out of my grasp
I am lifted by warm air
But gravity’s everywhere
I am worried just a bit
About how hard I will hit
But the point is kind of moot
As I lack a parachute
My adrenaline is high
As I plummet through the sky
My heart beats so very fast
But I know that it won’t last
Well, why not enjoy the fall
Just an ending after all
So, my face will wear a smile
Though it’s just a little while
I am airborne but earthbound
Flying high, but toward the ground
What goes up must come back down
So, I’m airborne but earthbound
