Ain't No Humble In a Hustlin Heart

Pride is a motivator, a stimulator of scarlet soul
an accelerator to the next glorious goal
generator of newcoming awakening
cultivator out cunning the unkind
cutting away all the doubts and flouts, leaving the babel and rabble behind,
a slayer of beasts and witches,
pulverizer of all that threatens my wishes,

Pride is an educator, a teacher whom need not flatter
or conspire to push passion higher,
a preacher promisin that you can be better than you thought you were,
transformer from the mediocre to a raw reformer
makin my heart the perfect love performer
romanticizer of the love battles that my Lady and I thunder
reinforcer of our durable dreams, encourager for our beautiful hunger,

Pride has weather, moving me to smile at the wind and bear the barbs of error,
an innovator of my instincts, reflector of bleeding color
It compells me to be a competitor, a finisher, and a star runner,
my blessings won't bow to humble hoaxes
my talent cannot tolerate the tamming of tragedies
my courage will not cower with the false virtue of humble hypnotism
ain't no way a honkeytonk humbler gonna wear away my sway,
my faith will not stumble upon the stones of humble wastelands,
I wasn't born to walk with humble eyes,
I'm alive to thrive with a sacred strive,
in pride I hear the voice of my Creator say, be great or die!

A very powerful and resilient poem that depicts your inner strength and so much more dear justin. I love the last line the most and i think now after reading this profound and your well articulated lines, i would define and interpret pride differently and be also seeing things from a different light! A very uplifting and empowering take it is. I always think we must believe in ourselves and stay humble yet never forget what we are capable of. Pleasure reading you. Sending you light always.

Wow! Love it, Justin. This is really sump'n. When I saw your title I figured there's got to be a country song in there someplace. You didn't let me down. Now if I had the intelligence to figure out what-all it's saying I could get out my guitar and try singing it. Heavy, Man!

I felt country cool while composin this rugged poem Warren. My soul just had to say somethin in defense of healthy pride. I would love to hear Johnny Cash and June Carter, those two jumpin love birds sing this poem of mine somewhere where love and boldness meet in Heaven, may they play in peace. Thanks for the awesome encouragement Warren. J.A.B.

Hi Justin, pride is a monster when abused and trampled on. I enjoy the way you hold every line with confidence. You end the poem with a powerful meaning. To see, to feel, the creator and the world we breathe. I truly compliment you on every line. The perfect love performer ---- beautiful hunger, WOW, you gave me a picture, that hustled my heart to do. I like pride and peace. All things need pride. I'm a prideful poet, selling words as often. Forever **SKAT**

In so many ways the virtue of Pride is about recognizing love, bringing it's fire into the world, defending and nurturing it within us Skat. A picture in the heart fades not Poetess. Your beautiful, durable soul deserves to be prideful, and has my admiration and love. Thank you for understanding me...J.A.B.

Justine, this piece is so deep and well written. After reading your work the first thing I say is WOW. Your pen is so amazing. When the reader comes in contact with your work they have made contact with POETRY! There are so many deep lines in this write but the last stanza just leaped off the page "I wasn't born to walk with humble eyes,I'm alive to thrive with a sacred strive,in pride I hear the voice of my Creator say, be great or die!"

Yes, the humility you speak of, masked in virtue, can be hypnotic, sickening, often showered with hidden motives. Sincere meekness may gain you some respect from others, may silence the haughty soul. This humility challenges you, but your pride and self-worth abolishes it. On the other hand, hard work resulting in Pride opens up the gates of opportunity, self-discovery/recovery, success beyond our wildest dreams and expectations. The best result, perhaps, is great joy. This victorious poem with the voice of the Eternal makes me smile. Keep hustlin' brilliance! Always, Laura

Pride prompts the brave and industrious to eschew ulterior motives, to breath in the open star light of life's lessons and opportunities. There is a value to be learned from humbleness, humility, even meekness in our developmental years, which may stretch well into adulthood, enventually, we must decide to find pride in our growth, and to exert our talents of the heart Laura...J.A.B.

A stimulating style of great power this poem stirs in my heart, Justin."Pride has weather, moving me to smile at the wind and bear the barbs of error" I adore that metaphorical line-it swells in resilience and perception. Pride doesn't destroy- it motivates one to reach their full potential. "my faith will not stumble upon the stones of humble wastelands…" I love that you tie faith into your work alongside the pride that allows greatness and love performance to thrive.

We are all slaves to our emotions and when we allow our feelings free reign we open ourselves to a world of possibilities. This poem goes deep within the human psyche and brings the essence of pride to the front of our perceptions. Emile.

Emotions are an enormous force to be reckoned with my friend, and the harmony between them and logic, along with love and intellect is an ongoing artwork of poetic living. I do not trust stoic individuals though, passion is what sustains the heart. I respect your philosophic mind Emile, and the quality thought you invest into comments on poets' works...J.A.B.

Pride is a strange thing. It can lead us to our downfall or help us to achieve and be where we want to be in life... We need to walk with our pride like on a tightrope. Kept in balance and trying not to fall... Your words are inspirational in many ways, Justin. Another brilliant piece of writing and passionate expression, as only you can do!

That Pride is a virtue, and strength is an absolute truth, however, through indiscipline it may very well mutate into the awful vice of arrogance Kelly. It is vital that we recognize these fundamental distinctions. There is no downfall for a mature soul. Your wisdom is well received, and your encouragement be invaluable Kelly...J.A.B.

Justin, if pride is being use not to harm or demean anyone, it is all humility... I like the last three lines, powerful!! And it's true among all creations we are created above all... Pride like freedom comes with responsibility and wisdom... Pride is not being boastful when you share the blessings you attained and dedicate it to God who is the source of everything.. Pride to attain progress also in times when we are challenged by situations..

I like how you presented the positive as well as the negative side of pride in which it all depends- individually. Poetically, I like always the way you cut your lines, makes me want to read more.. carrying intrigue and intensity but etched in between the lines is a message.. your metaphors are really great.. alliterations... You, Skat and Lollie Linda is my faves when using alliteration
