Ain'T I As Black As Tar

Ain't I as Black as Tar
But no hip hop is not all I listen to
Ain't I as Black as Tar
But my hair is not nappy just thicker
Ain't I as Black as Tar
But I'm not ignorant just dissappointed in others
Ain't I as Black as Tar
But my back is strong like the inflictions from whips my ancestors received
Ain't I as Black as Tar
But when will they not refer to me as black but a shade of lovely brown
Ain't I as Black as Tar
But it didn't keep my great great grandfather from falling in love with a white woman
Ain't I as Black as Tar
That I am not scornful of this American past but so enamored with strive I can gladly
say...Ain't I as Black as Tar!
