Ah, Sweet Daisy
Ah Sweet Daisy
Ah, sweet daisy, a commoner scorned
prolific beauty a-dance upon the hillside,
unabashedly un-ashamed peon
answering only to the wind’s whispers.
A thousand petaled suns rising
atop the hilled horizons celebrating
in white winged applause
soft opening of a single bud.
Bouquets held in roughened hands
presented to a beauty such as theirs
simple radiance unhindered
by expectations vanity.
Petals plucked by lover’s doubt
answers sought by fickle hearts
knowing the daisies always answer
“she loves me, she loves me still”.
