Ah, May Can Be So Dreary
It's a miserable day,
steady rain chills skin and bones,
and hearing how hard it pelts:
I transcribe its mood!
Ah, May can be so dreary...
not wonderful as usual;
all trees weep for its sadness:
they miss the sunshine!
It's eight o' clock on Friday,
kids head to school so slowly;
there won't be happy smiles,
no playing outside!
I add sugar to coffee,
it will soothe the somber feeling;
sweetness breaks down the thick blood,
it tones down sadness!
Ah, May can be so dreary;
flowers drenched in rain mourn
the radiance of spring sunrays...
as their petals droop!
