Agape Love of God
When in twenties, I was distressed,
There was so much suffering around, I just couldn't bear it
If God existed, why was he not doing anything
So many unanswered questions
A friend suggested I should read scriptures
In them I understood,
Sin was the cause of miseries
Salvation was the goal of life
Surrender to lord the easiest way to achieve it
One day, I bowed down before the Lord
Told him " I give you my body and mind.
They are yours to use as you want"
Then, the constant struggle began to end my doership
I kept telling myself, I am not doing, God is doing
I should not worry, it is no longer mine
Eng your ego Rama, I kept repeating
As I was struggling to surrender unto the lord,
I heard a voice from within my heart
I knew it was the voice of God.
I was beside myself with joy
This voice has been with me since then whispering to me
Stopping me whenever I am about to sin
It is a proof of presence of God
His agape love for me
This love has been my inspiration for whatever I do it never ceases
So much passionate about my well-being, I am amazed
Reflecting that love in my surroundings, I care, serve, try to be good
God has been with me when I suffered physical and mental agony,
With me when I cried endlessly
His voice within told me, miseries end sins
Once all sins end you will automatically reach me.
Despite suffering, my faith is unwavering
Now I treat pain as gift of God
Understand it is a pathway to reach him
God gives me courage hope and healing
Confidence that I will soon get liberated and reach my home
The voice of God within should stay with me forever
Love of God for me should never cease
These are my only prayers
I have no other desire in life
If suffering can take me to him,
I want more and more suffering
I merely want to reach God,
The only person who loves me truly,
unconditionally!
