Against It All

The days are long gone
Nights consumed with the
Intoxication of laughter
They were the best
Young and restless
Waiting for the next best thing
Letting life expose itself
Setting our own
Standards and expectations
Responsibility was a rumor
Myths and fiction
We never paid attention
Those memories seem so distant
I hold them close as a reminder
I am not alone
Somewhere out there
You have not forgotten
Our youthful hubris
All the good fights we fought
Young and lost
Against it all
