Again

Planning to go back again to the places I once knew
Hoping that my heart don’t break thinking about you
A young sailor who long ago his die was cast
Now dreams of cherished days long past
Just to gaze into your eyes once more
To walk hand in hand along the shore
To hold you close, kiss your lips and then
Sail under the Southern Cross again
The pounding surf plays the same old tune
That it did before beneath the Caribbean moon
I know now what I didn’t know then
That I’ll never hold you in my arms again
Days and weeks have turned into years
Thousands of miles and a million tears
I love you now as I loved you then
I know I’ll never see your face again
My life will never be the same
In my dreams I still call your name
Again tonight in my sleep I’ll cry
Again tonight I’ll hear you say good bye
Again I’ll remember that sun drenched bay
Again I’ll see your tears as I sailed away

And in a lighter vein, I say: "That's what you get, Admiral, for serving in the Navy, visiting too many ports and meeting too many beautiful women! Then dreaming about them and calling their names, different names in every dream! I just hope the wife is not wide awake when you dream and start calling so many names!!! Hey, slow down on this nostalgia thing, Admiral, or at least refrain from mentioning too many names in your dreams so as to keep domestic peace! LOL Regards, Fred

So heartachingly bittersweet. I know how it feels, going down memory lane and recalling old loves, just as Julio Iglesias used to sing "To All The Girls I've Loved Before". But awakening to the present: don't you think, Vince, that wives won't be jealous if they feel us thinking about some old loves or calling some other woman's name in our dream? Reverse the situation: what if we hear our wives whisper an old boyfriend's name in her dream? Tricky situation, won't you say? Fred

Dear Vince, "I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all..."- Oh, that Caribbean moon makes lovers' hearts eternal ...Beautiful poem, Vince. All the best, Iolanda
