Aftermath

It was the selfish men who tore the country apart, For they had no love for Lincoln nor people at heart. A line called Mason Dixon was keeping both sides apart, And in 1861, the Civil War battles began to start. In 1865, a peace mandate was finally brought in, But Black's down in the South had not forgotten. It was the end of slavery and elite slave trade plottin', When former slaves told their masters, "Go pick your own damn cotton".

We can be slaves to idess and sheep in follwing the thoughts of others, thus keeps us small. American slavery did end. But currently, one party pretends it still exista. Why! To get votes.I taught about the Civil War..it did end, panagiota. South Frica has slavery, yes.

Thank you for your response. I dislike slavery in all forms, including corporate. It is a blessing to be free.

Yes, slavery still exists in many forms. At least, America no longer trades for goods or money in exchange for people that are designated as property. Monday is Martin Luther King Day.

Oh, this is quite a deep and powerful write, dear Hilda.. History keeps repeating itself and it results that "It was the selfish men who tore the country apart".. In many cases and many parts of the world too.. Although, I'm not aware of these instances, with details, but you really wrote it so well.. Sending you love & light ~

Thank you. It is a little heavy, but this being close to Martin Luther King's birthday, I thought it would be a good poem for his remembrance.

Thank you, Ink. I tried to write a poem that somehow relates to Martin Luther King Jr. since his day is coming on Mondsy.
