Afterlife

A scream in the moonlight echoes through the trees Emotions wash over me as we’re trapped in the dark I’ve memorized your smile a mysterious ocean a warm sun I’ve loved you for infinity our fingers intertwined A kiss soft as a feather I believe we’re breathtakingly perfect Our lives redeemed our souls illuminating the trees Our new life awaits us as the ink blue sky darkens As the rebellion paints sadness in the moonlit night Danger motionless beneath us, a simple rose for each To remind us of the little beauty we have left The murmurs of forgotten souls linger in the air Our fears diminish as we leave the world we once called home Walking into the vast unknown to experience the afterlife
