Notes About The Poem

Afterglow

celestial smile
gold halo while birthing child
love afterglow proud

Father’s face painted relief and joy
Red eyes cry excited emerald voice
Little baby birthed after a journey
Nine months in captivity of mom’s tummy

The nose is hers the eyes are his
Lips so curved fretting in crib
Baby’s hair soft curly and fine
Looking like an angel so divine

Doctors and nurses or midwife
All celebrating birth of new life
There is an aura of hazel happiness
Amber afterglow hearts so blessed

karen, you highlight the joy and wonder of this experience. I remember how it all changed my life for the better. We're so lucky to have wonderful health care providers as well. Smiles!
