After The Storm Raged

Friends tell each other how they feel with relative ease and frequency, Siblings wait for a more convenient time, —like their deathbeds.
Anonymous
After the storm raged, There was nothing left to salvage. The once sturdy oak tree had fallen, Its sheltering branches, like family bonds, lay broken. Fragments of the fawns, now weathered and worn, Like a garden deprived of the nurturing sun. The mother's absence cast grey shadows upon each one. No longer anchored by her loving grace, The hurt left between them—a widening space. At crossroads they stood, staring at a lifelong fate, Yet, in the quietude, the whispered prayers of a mother remained. She hoped her children would heal the wounds and unchain their pain. But after the storm raged, Doors shut tight. Emotions numbed, like veiled stars in the night. No longer required, the burden of false smiles, No more hollow holidays, no deceiving desires. Freed from the chains of judgmental tones, One fawn detached, realizing her walk would now be alone. For the love she craved seemed a distant belief, An unsettling illusion, answers that would never retrieve. That love should mean more than mere tolerance, with no embrace. She searched for solace in a newfound space. No longer bound by ties that tore, She found her worth, her rightful place, And in her flight, she came to know That sometimes, with forgiveness— One must love from afar— One must let things go. So she wished each true inner peace. A sense of closure, a heart's release. One fawn—tears puddled within her, walks bravely ahead— but with no family left to love.
