After the Rain
How sweet the morning light
gathering in deep blue cleared skies
glowing in reflections of the ocean tides
glistening dewdrops on the leaves and trees
grasses soaked and squishy beneath my feet;
bird song reverberating in the echo chambers
beckoning a song on rewind and repeat
balancing a joyous break in the weather
basking where sunlight gleams in hot waves
beguiling and drying raindrops from every space;
after the rain
indispensable growth spurts of bush and brush rise
inching to greet and welcome the morning sun
impeccable fallen peony and rose petals
integral release from the faded holds;
after the rains
abundant with life, the earth returns to spring
accomodating the cusp of summer
aching to breathe in the pulse
accolades for the very heartbeat of the world.
