After the Floods

After the floods
of tears 
througout
dark and lonely
nights
of broken
promises
and hurt
feelings
come red
and swollen 
eyes
with puffy 
lids hidden
from the light
of day 
and away
from friends
whose sympathy 
would 
render me
useless.
