After the Apocalypse

After the Apocalypse

By Elton Camp

In a world finally gone berserk
The nuclear bombs did their work

Every city was instantly desolated
The human race almost devastated

Only those who had the foresight
To build shelters came out all right

Meg and Bruce were two of those
Only they survived, she did suppose

From their holes, the two came out
Meg was the new Eve she’d no doubt

Bruce, the new Adam she expected
Then his shirt slogan she detected

“Gay and proud” it proclaimed
Meg said, “Well, I’ll be blamed!”

Thank you. This is shorter than my typical poem, but sometimes briefer is better.
