After a Life of Rhyme
Listening to the charges read
I stood silently in the dock
These strange events I have to say
Were really quite a shock
I had enjoyed a life of rhyme
Until I was finally caught
And ended up being tried
In a poetry court
“Not guilty” I quietly said
It seemed to make things worse
As I was found guilty of
Crimes against free verse
After five years in prison
I'm free, I’ve done my time
No, I have not learned my lesson
I am going straight back to rhyme
