Afrobiscus

This is Africa a friend to the west and home
At west with Eastern coal
River Benue bend us to farm
River Nile march her name like
Nobles night of bliss in Cairo
She is the anchor of sun with earthen heritage

This is Africa the joy of mother earth
The domain of nature and earthen fertility
Like Bee's and Honey comb
Africa the ancestral home of music
Like the dancing colours of leaves by the shores of
Niger Delta

This is Africa the hook of soils wealth
By tip and zip lite of natures gifts
She is a land of threshing pool of wealth
By the parlour of art she is the land of Goldsmith
This is Africa the peak plough of cultural bloom
Like the blacksmith furnace
Africa a confluence home of palm wine
The bowel of soup and hot pepper soup with
Forest citizens as spice as her kitchen smokes
Smells with fresh fish like Barbers cream

This is Africa with rural children to glance
 for her hope
Africa an ethnic colony of tribal crowns
A land with spring of running water
Africa the pyramid of craftsmanship
This is Africa an intellect land
A global topography the Eden of all history
Africa is a garden of talent like a potters workshop with ripples and riddles
Africa the scroll of time the beginning of history

This is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read - I have lived in South Africa most of my life but as a teenager lived in Zambia - Visited the Victoria Falls, went to the Kariba Dam, , shopped in the main road Cairo Road and visited Ndola up North. My parents visited Malawi and stayed at Lake Malawi - I love Africa - I have written a poem called Sunkissed - perhaps if you have time you might wish to read it - you are a very talented poet Okonkwo! Hugs, Jennifer.

This poem is melodic in it's historic articulation,Okonkwo. I Was in North Africa but I know it doesn't compare to South Africa. I was in awe of this poem, my friend

Hi Okonkwo - I so loved this poem - although I am born in Greece I have lived in Africa all my life, in Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, My husband has also visited Malawi - it is an intoxicating continent - a South African Author Wilbur Smith, captured many of its beauties in his books. I have written a short poem about Africa, if you wish to read it I have named it SUN KISSED. Poetry hugs, Jennifer.
