Africa's Drums

Beating loudly
                                             Men with spears,
                                                 Loin clothes.

                                                   Women
                                               Breasts bare
                                          Tribal dancing sunset,
                                                    Golden.

Hello Jennifer … all over the world ancient ceremonial orders are being eroded by the modern way of intrusive promises, and therefore those who hold on to their traditions are certainly golden indeed - thank you Jennifer - Lindsay

You are so right Lindsay. I think our Greek community spread all over Africa, have kept their ethos and traditions alive, far mare than the Greeks in Greece. Thank you for a very fine comment. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Jenn, your poetry helps to expand my borders of awareness and understanding. You have sympathetically painted in words an image of a tribal ritual begun long ago. Thank you for broadening horizons! Best wishes to you in the contest, it should do very well... a winner in my book. Hugs ~ John

Poetry Soup should hold a big get together at Sun City - what bliss to meet everyone. Be safe dear John, Hugs and blessings, Jennifer

Thank you Michael. I read the links you gave us and it is kind of scary. To my surprise, today, there were demonstrations in England , can't remember the town, with placards saying exactly what I read and heard and people being interviewed almost quoting this gentleman's writings about the conspiracy theory. Thank-you for a gracious comment. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Susan, what a pleasure it is having you visit, thank you for a wonderful comment. Africa is a huge continent, each have their own tribal dancing, we have lived in the then Rhodesia, in Zambia, have visited Swaziland on many occasions and of course now live in South Africa close to Johannesburg. We have so many beautiful touristic sights in this country, and truly, all over Africa. Thank you for your warm wishes to me and the best wishes for a win. I saw the contest at the last moment and rushed to do it and noticed the contest closed once I posted mine, so it must have been the last entry.Hope you and the family are well. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I've seen this myself in the last decade on a trip to Swaziland Gershon and its quite amazing, exactly as I described it. It takes you back in History, and is a frequent tourist attraction, as is the Gum Boot d Dance here in South Africa which stems from the laborers in the mines. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.
